The earliest known engraving of the Shroud, dated 1578, is the work of Giovanni Testa of Turin. It depicts the Shroud being held up by eleven Bishop and commemorates the arrival of the Shroud from Chambery France to Turin. Pictured in the exact center is the Bishop of Milan, Saint Charles Borromeo.
